Katie Whyte is a visual artist based in South-East Queensland, Australia. Katie is known for her use of colour and abstract forms in large-scale murals and studio painting.
Emerging as an exhibited visual artist in the early 2000's Katie attended The University of Southern Queensland to complete a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Honours). She is also a former optical vision therapist, completing theoretical study and clinical training in the improvement of visual perspective. After studying both vision and art, she views painting as a means of making sense of the world. In her work, she explores how art acts in a similar way to vision, by influencing our understanding of space and identity so that meaning can be drawn from our experiences.
Primarily practicing in painting and drawing, Katie works from her home-based studio in Toowoomba, South East Queensland. She creates original artworks only. Her work takes the form of oil on canvas, gouache on archival cotton paper, studio sketches and large scale, site-specific murals in residential, commercial and public spaces.
Original artworks are available to view and purchase online through limited releases a few times a year and in-person during special events.
A handful of commissions are available each year. Contact the artist to discuss having your very own original artwork created for your home or business.
